Credit Card on File – Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Why is Endwell Family Physicians offering this?

Our providers realize that the trend in medical insurance is to shift more of the cost of care onto you. This means that our patients are incurring larger bills for the medical treatment and may be unable to plan for a large and unexpected bill. Our automatic payment plan will allow you the convenience of spreading your payment over time if necessary. This program is also designed to make bill payment and record-keeping more convenient by eliminating check writing and postage, saving time and paperwork, minimizing the chance for a late or lost payment, and ensuring payment even if you are out of town.

Is it secure?

We work with an authorized merchant processor for credit card transactions. As an authorized merchant processor, our processor must meet or exceed all PCI Security Council requirements. The PCI Security Council is the organization that regulates credit card transaction security. Endwell Family Physicians does not store your card information in our own computers.

What if I disagree with a bill?

Contact our practice. We want to make sure that you understand your billing statement, and our billing team will be happy to address any questions or concerns you have. We encourage you to talk to us as soon as a question arises so that your payment does not process automatically while you have a concern. Of course, if we have made an error or your insurance processes an adjustment, we can refund an automatic payment to you.

Is there a charge for the automatic payment plan?

There is no charge for this service.

I want to sign up, but $100 is too much for me to be charged at once. Can I ask for a smaller amount to be charged each month?

Yes. Our cap is set at $100, but we can set up a payment budget with you in the office to work with your needs and comfort level.

What record will I have of an automatic payment transaction?

Payment confirmation will be delivered to your email address on file. The amount and date of the payment will show on your credit card statement. The practice will also have a transaction record.

How do I stop an automatic payment?

Contact our practice. We can determine if a billing credit needs to be made.

How do I cancel my participation in the automatic payment plan?

Contact our practice. We can remove your signed consent from your record.

What happens if I get a new credit card number?

Contact our practice. We can save a new card on your record.

Can I put my card on file for other people, such as my children or other family members?

Yes. We can add your card information to the accounts of others with your permission. You will not be able to access any of their medical information by this process. Your card will simply be billed for their charges through the automatic payment plan. (Note that you may have access to their medical information by other means, such as for minor children. The payment process will not impact such access.)

I haven't been asked yet about signing up for this. Can I start it now?

Yes. To participate, we must have a signed consent from you and your card information, so you must sign up in the office. If you don’t have an upcoming appointment, you can stop by Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm and ask to sign up. You can also send us a message through your portal.
